Teaching Experience

University of Florence Italy: External Assistance: 1985-1991

Collaborating with Professors Galli etc¼ the following principles were adhered to and taught at The institute of Architectural Design, Florence - Italy: Comparison of the visual arts and experimentation of neo avant-garde architects in an attempt to elaborate the methods to perform architecture.

Deepening the relationship between architecture and site. Using the concept of environment as the architectural planning material and using Sterling and Ungers studies to create a unitary method to Comprehend city’s developmental process.

Using Lynch and Kepes’ theories on environment and analyzing the construct of space of place with different architectural and urban theories, and, considering design and planning as social practices, discussing how the spatial theories articulate with practice, and, the relationship between planners, designers and social change.

Using the English model defining the relation between architecture and perception.

Interpreting city as a collective work, as a structure that contains other simple structures, and as a locus system, dynamic balance and a place for urban experience and interaction between space and individuals, and a structure visualized as an organism.

Relating these influences within urban planning and architectural design to establish an architectural method and discussing the various architectural techniques.

The Teaching Plan addressed three directions:

1.        To develop and establish an archive of past history.

2.        To focus on the influences of the interruptions within any discipline, form and phenomena.

3.        To recover the subtracted dimensions and to reinterpret them into their actual role, not in their historical role.
